Project Case Study: Toggl – The Perfect Partner
Share
We’ve just wrapped an exciting project for Toggl — and our first fully scripted campaign as a company.
Here’s how it came together.
In mid-January, Jack was approached by his good friend, fellow Reading University alumnus and long-time creative collaborator, Peter Sherwood-King, Content Marketing Manager at Toggl.
Peter had an idea inspired by those viral 80s dating videos (the brilliantly executed parodies created by an LA-based improv troupe). The concept was simple and sharp: take the real pain points of Toggl’s target customers and reimagine them as awkward 80s dating profiles — with the punchline that Toggl is, of course, the perfect partner.
We were immediately in.
The brief wasn’t sales-heavy. It leaned into entertainment. It embraced character. It trusted the audience to get the joke.
There was just one catch:
Launch was set for three weeks later. Right before Valentine's Day.
Challenge accepted.
With four sharp, character-driven scripts written by Peter (whose writing talent we’ve admired for years), we moved straight into pre-production. What followed was a focused sprint: casting, production design, wardrobe, locations and crew all assembled in just over a week.
Thanks to our cast that absolutely delivered, and an exceptional crew — from our wickedly talented DP and frequent collaborator Alex Conabere, to our brilliant hair and makeup team led by Sorsha Fisher — we delivered four pieces of content in multiple formats, on schedule.
The result is a campaign that blends nostalgia, humour and product positioning in a way that feels genuinely fun to watch.
