Let me get something off of my chest.
If you’re sleeping on Blender, please stop!
This software can change the game for you and open up a number of new creative avenues. And the best part? It’s absolutely free.
What can it do?
Blender is primarily 3D software. Like an open-source version of some of the big boys such as Maya or 3Ds Max, and it certainly began its life in the mid-90s as a very stripped down hobbyist version of those packages.
Now, however, it’s a different story.
With regular updates that only ever improves on the power of the tool, Blender is now a fantastic piece of software in not only 3D, but also 2D, Simulations, Visual Effects and compositing.
Perhaps you want to add a new dimension to your motion graphics?
Or add a CG element to your scene?
Need to put together a quick particle system for use in your edits?
Blender can do all of the above and more.
Resources
One of the great starting points to learn Blender would be on the website www.blender.org, there are some truly great tutorials and courses available, many of which are now iconic in the Blender community.
Likewise, YouTube is a fantastic treasure trove of tutorials.
One of the most famous is Blender Guru’s famous donut tutorial series; well worth a watch if you are starting out.
If you are keen to learn Blender, keep an eye on the website and our socials, we will be putting out more and more Blender content over the coming months.
Easy to Learn?
If you are familiar with 3D software, then the learning curve for Blender is naturally going to be a more leisurely slope than anything too steep.
If you’re new to 3D, however, expect to sink a good number of hours into online tutorials and courses. Learning 3D involves a very specific skillset, but its a great feather to your cap when thinking about what is achievable in subsequent work.
Invest the time into it, and you’ll be able to reap the creative benefits.
